Mission and vision

The vision of SWB-CI is to contribute to build an inclusive society. We define Inclusive Society as a society where every human being enjoys his human rights without discrimination

SWB-CI believes that disability is a matter of human rights and development. The vulnerability and poverty of people with disabilities are deeply the result of the discrimination they experience in everyday life. This discrimination may be institutional (legislative barriers), environmental (physical or communication barriers) or attitudinal (negative attitudes and prejudices) and tends to limit their participation in social, economic, cultural and political life. Consequently their social integration is hindered.

The mission of SWB-CI is to work to promote the rights of persons with disabilities in relation with the International Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). The CRPD is the best tool to fight against discrimination based on disabilities. We promote inclusive development; we mean a development based on respect for human rights in all their differences.

Objectives

SWB-CI aim to contribute to strengthen the movement for the promotion of people with disabilities’ rights in Côte d'Ivoire and in Africa in order to improve their living conditions through the following objectives:

  1. Build up  the capacity of people with disabilities and their organizations in their communities;
  2. Promote the UN CRPD  in  the society in general and with Government;
  3. Participate in the implementation of  the UN CRPD through projects targeting the improvement of the social integration of persons with disabilities;
  4. Strengthen South-South and North-South cooperation within the framework of promotion of the rights of Persons with Disabilities cooperation
